the top. let's just say for the sake of argument he takes wisconsin but governor romney gets the state of iowa on election day. the president would still be at 265 with ohio and wisconsin, then he just needs five more. new hampshire would give him four so that's not big enough. but obama campaign increasingly thinks the latino vote in nevada would do it. that would put the president over the top there. if he didn't get nevada for some reason, the president's options would be colorado, virginia, new hampshire or florida. the president with an easier path. what about governor romney. let's leave this one blue. can governor romney get there if ohio is going blue. can romney get all the way to 270 when the president's already at 275. well, he would have to win florida, he would have to win virginia. then you're at 255, 254. he would have to win colorado. that would put him in play at 263. then from there, how does governor romney get over the top? he would if he won wisconsin, paul ryan's home state. 10 electoral votes right there. logic being if the president's winning ohio, these are two

campaign stop of the day in ohio. romney campaigns next hour in wisconsin and heads to ohio as well. reporting live from washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news. >>> it is 7:15. a new ktvu field poll shows a dramatic shift in how people in california say they will vote on proposition 34. the proposed repeal of the state death penalty. the poll shows a sudden surge in support for proposition 34 with 45% of likely voters saying they will vote yes and 38% saying they will vote no. 17% of voters are undecided. proposition 34 would eliminate the death penalty in california and replace it with life in prison without the possibility of parole. the 725 inmates currently on death row would be merged in with the general prison population. supporters of proposition 34 says keeping hundreds of inmates on death row costs the state millions of dollars every year in legal costs. they also point to the cases where people convicted of murder were later found to be innocent. opponents of proposition 34 call ate slap in the face for families of murder victims. >>> many death row inmates are
that governor romney will go with those states. he does not have them locked in just yet, and you start to talk about ohio, wisconsin, new hampshire, and nevada, they are very favorable for the president right now. it is tough for governor romney. he has got to have a global win. it cannot just be trying to figure out some mix of states to try to get to 270. there is a final push for the country decides they are ready to hire him and fire president obama. tavis: we talked earlier about this notion of being careful, how you walk this tightrope when you have a storm that is vexing so much of the country, but there are some issues in this storm the obama campaign could raise. i suspect they are smart not to raise it. when a candidate says, let's get rid of fema and send the money back to the states, now is theoretically a good time to have the conversation. when a candidate says they made a mockery of global warming and climate change, another issue that could be placed on the docket. i do not know how you do that without being seen as playing politics with the storm, but are these real issues? >>
